Warranty Policy

At Crocodile Clean, we take pride in delivering professional cleaning services with care, attention to detail and appropriate cleaning methods. Whether we are preparing a newly completed development, cleaning a commercial property or carrying out specialist work on brickwork, stone or decking, our aim is to complete every agreed service to a professional standard.

Our Cleaning Workmanship & Warranty Policy explains how we deal with concerns about the quality of our completed cleaning work and the circumstances in which we may provide remedial cleaning.

This policy applies alongside our Service Terms & Conditions and does not affect any statutory rights that may apply to our customers.

Our Cleaning Workmanship Commitment

At Crocodile Clean, our approach is built around professional standards, practical experience and delivering reliable results for our customers. You can learn more about our approach to professional cleaning on our About Us page.

Where an identifiable area of completed cleaning does not meet the agreed specification because of a workmanship issue, we will assess the concern and, where appropriate, arrange remedial cleaning of the affected area.

Our warranty relates to the quality and completion of the cleaning service we provide. It does not constitute a guarantee that every stain, mark, defect or underlying condition can be removed.

What Our Warranty Covers

Subject to the terms of this policy, our workmanship warranty may apply where:

  • an agreed cleaning task has not been completed;
  • an agreed area has been missed;
  • an area has not been cleaned to the agreed service specification;
  • an identifiable cleaning deficiency results from our workmanship;
  • agreed cleaning requirements have not been carried out using appropriate methods or reasonable care and skill.

Where a concern is found to be covered, our preferred remedy will normally be to return and carry out reasonable remedial cleaning to the affected area.

The extent of any remedial work will depend on the original scope of work, the condition of the surface and the nature of the issue reported.

Re-Clean Guarantee

If you believe that an area covered by the agreed cleaning service has not been cleaned satisfactorily, please contact Crocodile Clean as soon as reasonably possible after completion.

For standard cleaning services, we recommend that concerns are reported within 48 hours of completion wherever possible.

For post-construction, specialist or project-based cleaning, the applicable inspection or reporting period may be specified in the quotation, scope of works or project agreement.

Reporting a concern promptly allows us to investigate the condition of the affected area before normal use, construction activity or other contractors alter the premises.

A request for remedial cleaning does not automatically mean that the original work was defective. We will assess each concern against the agreed scope of work and the condition of the property.

Post-Construction Cleaning

Construction and refurbishment environments can present conditions that differ significantly from ordinary cleaning work.

After Crocodile Clean has completed a post-construction cleaning service, other contractors, tradespeople, occupants, deliveries or site activities may continue to affect the property.

Our warranty therefore applies to the cleaning work carried out by Crocodile Clean and not to contamination or deterioration that occurs afterwards.

For example, we cannot warrant against new:

  • dust or debris generated by subsequent construction work;
  • paint, plaster, adhesive or sealant contamination caused after our cleaning;
  • mud or dirt brought onto a cleaned surface;
  • damage caused by subsequent trades or contractors;
  • waste or materials left on an area after cleaning;
  • marks resulting from subsequent occupation or use.

Where possible, customers should arrange the final cleaning stage after major construction activity has finished and before the property is handed over or occupied.

Specialist Surface Cleaning

Crocodile Clean provides specialist cleaning services for surfaces including brickwork, stone and decking. Specialist cleaning requires careful consideration of the material, cleaning method and surrounding environment. Our health and safety standards for cleaning work explain how we approach safe and responsible cleaning practices.

The result achievable from specialist cleaning depends on the material, its age, condition, previous treatment, type of contamination and the cleaning method that can safely be used.

Our warranty therefore covers the quality of the cleaning process, rather than guaranteeing the complete removal of every mark, stain or defect.

We cannot guarantee complete removal of conditions such as:

  • permanent or deeply ingrained staining;
  • weathering;
  • discolouration;
  • oxidation;
  • chemical staining;
  • etching;
  • deterioration;
  • pre-existing damage;
  • defective coatings or sealants;
  • damaged or degraded materials;
  • staining that cannot safely be removed without risking damage to the underlying surface.

Where appropriate, we may recommend a test area before undertaking a larger specialist cleaning treatment. The purpose of a test area is to help establish the likely cleaning result and identify any potential limitations associated with the material or contamination.

Pre-Existing Conditions

Our warranty does not cover defects or conditions that existed before we commenced work.

This may include:

  • damaged surfaces;
  • cracked or deteriorated materials;
  • existing discolouration;
  • worn finishes;
  • defective sealants;
  • previous chemical damage;
  • staining caused by earlier treatments;
  • structural or installation defects;
  • deterioration caused by age, weather or normal wear.

Where a pre-existing condition could affect the expected cleaning result, we may identify this before work begins and explain any relevant limitations.

Subsequent Damage or Contamination

The warranty applies to the condition of the relevant work at the time Crocodile Clean completes the service.

It does not cover new contamination, damage or deterioration caused after completion by:

  • customers or occupants;
  • builders or subcontractors;
  • other cleaning contractors;
  • visitors;
  • construction activity;
  • moving furniture or equipment;
  • vehicles or machinery;
  • adverse weather;
  • subsequent use of the property.

Where a project remains active after our cleaning has been completed, additional cleaning may be required once further construction or refurbishment work has taken place.

Customer Responsibilities

Customers can help us assess and resolve cleaning concerns efficiently by:

  • providing accurate information about the property and surfaces;
  • informing us about known defects or previous treatments;
  • ensuring reasonable access to areas requiring cleaning;
  • allowing us to inspect an area where a concern has been raised;
  • reporting concerns promptly;
  • providing photographs or other information where requested;
  • avoiding further treatment of an affected area before we have had an opportunity to inspect it.

Failure to follow these steps does not automatically remove any statutory rights that may apply, but it may affect our ability to determine the cause of an alleged cleaning deficiency.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

If you are dissatisfied with an aspect of our completed cleaning work, please contact Crocodile Clean as soon as possible.

When contacting us, please provide:

  • your name and contact details;
  • the property or project address;
  • the date the cleaning was completed;
  • details of the cleaning service provided;
  • a description of the issue;
  • photographs where appropriate;
  • any relevant quotation, scope of works or job reference.

We will review the information provided and may arrange an inspection where necessary.

Our assessment will consider the agreed scope of work, the condition of the affected surface, the cleaning method used, any subsequent activity and any relevant pre-existing conditions.

Remedial Cleaning

Where we determine that a concern is covered by this workmanship warranty, our first remedy will normally be to provide reasonable remedial cleaning of the affected area.

The remedial work will be limited to the part of the service that is reasonably necessary to address the identified cleaning deficiency.

We will aim to arrange remedial work within a reasonable period, taking account of the nature of the work, site access, availability and any practical requirements associated with the property.

Where repeat performance is not possible or does not provide an appropriate remedy, other remedies may apply depending on the circumstances and the terms of the relevant contract.

Damage and Liability

This warranty should not be interpreted as a replacement for Crocodile Clean’s contractual liability arrangements or any applicable insurance arrangements.

A complaint concerning cleaning quality is different from a claim alleging accidental damage to property.

Where a customer believes that our work has caused damage, the matter should be reported to us promptly so that we can investigate the circumstances. Further information about our cleaning services insurance and liability arrangements is available on our Insurance page.

We may request photographs, inspection access, information about the condition of the surface before cleaning and details of any previous treatments or relevant instructions.

Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, this warranty does not provide a guarantee against:

  • subsequent dirt, dust or contamination;
  • damage caused by third parties;
  • pre-existing defects;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • permanent staining;
  • deterioration of materials;
  • defects in the underlying surface;
  • results that cannot safely be achieved using an appropriate cleaning method;
  • changes to a surface caused by age, weathering or previous treatments;
  • areas that were not included within the agreed scope of work;
  • additional cleaning required because construction or refurbishment continued after our service;
  • cleaning requirements resulting from subsequent occupation or use.

This does not affect any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Relationship With Our Terms & Conditions

This Warranty Policy should be read together with Crocodile Clean’s Terms & Conditions, quotation, scope of works and any other written agreement applicable to the service.

Where the scope of a particular project contains specific cleaning standards, inspection arrangements or remedial provisions, those agreed project terms may apply to that service.

In the event of any conflict, applicable statutory rights will continue to apply.

Statutory Rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to remove, restrict or replace any statutory rights available to consumers or other customers under applicable UK law.

For consumer contracts, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 provides protections concerning the performance of services, including the requirement for services to be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Where the relevant statutory conditions are met, consumers may have rights including repeat performance and, in certain circumstances, a price reduction.

Crocodile Clean will deal with genuine service concerns fairly and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Our Approach to Customer Concerns

We want customers to be confident in the quality of our work.

Where a legitimate workmanship issue is identified, our objective is to understand the problem, establish its cause and provide an appropriate remedy wherever reasonably possible.

We also recognise that specialist and post-construction cleaning can involve materials and site conditions that place practical limitations on the result that can safely be achieved. We will aim to communicate those limitations clearly and provide realistic expectations before work begins.
